Local Events
With a program full of experiences and local festivities, Torrão is known for the “art of welcoming” all those who pass by and wish to participate in a set wide range of festivities and celebrations, planned for all seasons. There are several reasons to visit this Alentejo village, always partying!
Monthly Market
On the third Saturday of each month, with the exception of August, the Monthly Market takes place on the Fair's grounds, next to the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso, where you can find a huge diversity of products.

Annual Fair
Documented at least since 1758, the Annual Fair is always held on the first Friday and weekend of August. Fun, socializing and reunions characterize these three days of celebration in the village of Torrão.
Senhor dos Passos Procession
The Senhor dos Passos Procession takes place at Easter time, the favorite time to return to the homeland. The Philharmonic Band, to the rhythm of the snare drum and its multiple instruments, set the pace on the walkway to Largo de São Francisco. In this procession, men and women keep promises and the Torrão Mixed Fire Brigade carry the religious images on their shoulders.
Baile da Pinha
Every year, the 1º de Janeiro Society hall, is decored with its famous pinecone suspended in the center of the ceiling. Pairs of girls and boys dance the waltz and every year a new pair is elected to be the Kings at the next year’s Baile da Pinha.
Santa Maria Feast
On the 15th of August, on hot summer nights, we celebrate Saint Mary's Day. In that month, Torrão receive the visit of many Torranenses who are living outside the village or the country. By night, there is popular dance at the Bandstand in Jardim do Largo de São Francisco.
Baile do malmequer
Still taking advantage of the warm nights at the end of September, the midnight waltz is danced and the Baile do Malmequer opens, where the new Kings of Malmequer are chosen to organize the following year's party.
Carnival
Steeped in history, the Torrão Carnival is considered by many to be one of the most emblematic in the area. A parade of floats and revelers on foot, accompanied by the sound of the Philharmonic Band, play and bring even more joy to the main streets of the village.
